Senior Helpers franchises provide non-medical care and personal assistance, primarily for older adults. Services are delivered to clients, while the franchise itself operates from an approved office. For a buyer, the business combines caregiver staffing, scheduling, family communication and local business development.
What services does Senior Helpers provide?
SH Franchising, LLC’s Franchise Disclosure Document, issued April 29, 2026 and amended August 1, 2026, describes companionship, help with bathing and dressing, grooming, light housekeeping, meals, errands, transportation and medication reminders. Item 1 also includes Alzheimer’s and dementia care and caregiver staffing for facilities within the described non-medical model.
A prospective owner should understand the permitted services and staffing responsibilities in the proposed market. The brand’s care programs do not eliminate the need for trained personnel, appropriate licenses and day-to-day supervision.
An office-based business serving clients at home
Items 1 and 11 require an approved office rather than a residence or virtual office. The office must include signage, a separate training area that is not shared space, and dedicated space for a Center of Excellence. Written site approval is required before signing a lease.
This distinction matters when comparing an in-home care service with a home-based business. Client care taking place in a person’s home does not mean that the franchise owner can run the agency from their own residence.
Initial and continuing training
Item 11 includes remote preparation and follow-up modules as well as six days of training listed in Towson, Maryland. The table lists 43 hours for the six-day component; the remote modules add 55 hours. Subjects include business planning, caregiver recruitment, accounting, marketing, client assessment, LIFE Profile, care plans, scheduling and sales.
Initial required attendees receive training without an additional tuition fee, but the franchisee pays travel, living expenses, employee wages and workers’ compensation coverage during training. Management personnel must satisfactorily complete training and receive the franchisor’s certification before managing the business or training other personnel.
At least one person must complete Senior Gems training within six months of opening. Required later courses, meetings and conferences can involve registration and travel expenses. Replacement management training requirements also apply.
Operating support and owner responsibilities
The disclosed assistance includes office guidelines, operating manuals and access to the separately licensed LIFE Profile assessment tool. After opening, the franchisor provides guidance on operations, marketing, recruiting, employee training and accounting. It also sends a representative, at its cost, for up to two days within six months of opening.
Item 15 requires the Operating Principal to provide full-time management and oversight. A Key Manager must devote full-time efforts to direct supervision. The franchisee remains responsible for hiring, compensation, discipline and scheduling, so support should not be mistaken for the franchisor managing the workforce.
Financing and investment evaluation
Item 10 expressly says the franchisor will not offer financing to a new franchisee. It describes a limited financing history for certain exceptionally performing existing franchisees purchasing an additional business. That arrangement should not be presented as startup financial assistance available to all buyers.
Review the applicable disclosure document and a local budget for office costs, staffing, insurance, training travel and working capital. Demand for care does not establish the profitability of an individual agency.
