About Mosquito Hunters

The Mosquito Hunters concept was operated by an affiliate of its predecessor beginning in November 2013, and the predecessor began franchising in January 2015. Mosquito Hunters, LLC acquired the franchise system in May 2018 and began offering franchises that month. The current franchisor is based in Holmdel, New Jersey, with LD Parent, Inc. as its direct parent.

The offering has expanded beyond its original mosquito-control identity. Existing franchisees were offered the Humbug Holiday Lighting service line starting in December 2023. Holiday lighting and décor became a central part of the combined franchise in approximately April 2024, and the Pest Hunters name was added in March 2025. The current franchise therefore covers the three names together rather than a mosquito-only business.

The pest-control portion serves residential and commercial customers with outdoor treatments addressing mosquitoes, fleas, ticks, ants, spiders, rodents, cockroaches and other authorized pests. The holiday service includes lighting and décor design, installation, upkeep, removal and storage. Work takes place at customers’ homes or business premises, making this a mobile service operation. In many cases, the business can initially be administered from home if suitable equipment and material storage is available.

Pest-control seasonality varies by market, while holiday lighting work follows its own calendar and is generally introduced as the holiday season approaches. The owner coordinates the different service lines, personnel and equipment within an assigned territory. For the current combined offering, the initial franchise fee is $50,000, with separate initial training and support, grand-opening marketing and equipment fees.

The April 29, 2026 FDD reports an estimated initial investment of $117,570–$139,743 for the combined business (Item 7, pages 11–14). This includes the $50,000 license fee, $7,500 training and support fee, $20,000 grand-opening marketing package and $3,000 equipment package. The vehicle estimate assumes leasing, and the additional-funds allowance covers three months.

Item 11, page 21, separately requires centrally managed paid-media contributions paid weekly: the greater of $30,000 annually or 5% of net revenues, capped at $45,000 annually. Contributions begin in the first operating week, defined as the week after the grand-opening package launch. This recurring obligation is distinct from the opening package; plan its timing alongside the initial investment estimate.

Mosquito Hunters Training and Support

Preparation begins with a four-week virtual training schedule covering field operations, financial planning, holiday lighting, marketing, hiring and culture, safety, sales and pest services. It combines calls with subject-matter specialists, recorded material and onboarding check-ins. This virtual preparation is a prerequisite for the initial in-person program.

The in-person program lasts five days and is held at the Holmdel headquarters or nearby facilities. Up to two people may attend, and the principal owner must participate. Topics include the service vehicle and pest equipment, residential and commercial sales, customer experience, hiring, lighting materials and estimates, hands-on lighting installation and removal, and pest inspections and pricing. The franchisee pays travel and living expenses.

Before opening, the franchisor supplies standards and specifications for equipment, inventory and supplies, identifies approved suppliers and provides guidance on developing the business. The $7,500 initial training and support fee covers onboarding, training and launch support. The separate $20,000 grand-opening marketing package is managed by the franchisor during the first year, alongside other required marketing contributions.

Ongoing guidance is delivered through the operating manual and, as the franchisor chooses, telephone conversations or consultations at its offices or the franchisee’s office. The learning management system provides additional courses on software, technical skills, business management, marketing and financial topics. The software supplier also provides training. Supplemental and refresher programs may be required; those programs are furnished without a training charge, while attendance expenses remain the franchisee’s responsibility.

The franchisor administers centrally managed paid media for the territory and a national marketing fund. Local promotion remains part of the operator’s role, with advertising coordinated across the pest-control and holiday-lighting services. These resources support an owner who must still organize daily service delivery and build the customer experience locally.

Why Mosquito Hunters

The distinctive feature of the current Mosquito Hunters opportunity is the combination of pest control and holiday lighting in one local business. An owner can serve customers through different needs and seasons, with separate service identities and training for both activities. That gives the business a broader operating scope than a mosquito-treatment route alone.

The mobile format directs investment and attention toward vehicles, equipment, trained people and customer service. A home-based administrative start may be possible, supported by suitable storage, while the territory gives the owner a defined area in which to develop relationships. Sales, scheduling, service quality and seasonal staffing are practical skills that matter across the offering.

This is designed for committed ownership: owners must devote their full time and attention to the business unless the franchisor approves another noncompeting activity. A trained supervisor can handle on-premises supervision, but ownership responsibilities remain. For a buyer who wants to lead a service team and build a recognizable local operation, the combined brand model offers a concrete mix of technical work, marketing support and customer-facing business development.
