About Mosquito Joe
Mosquito Joe’s predecessor, Mosquito Joe Franchising, LLC, was organized in Virginia in August 2012 and began franchising that year. Neighborly acquired that predecessor in August 2018. The current franchisor, Mosquito Joe SPV LLC, was formed in November 2020 and became the franchisor of existing and future U.S. Mosquito Joe businesses in March 2021, when the franchise agreements and related brand rights were transferred to it.
The current franchisor is based in Waco, Texas. Neighborly Company provides the support and services required under the franchise agreements through a management arrangement, with the franchisor remaining responsible for those commitments. Mosquito Joe therefore operates within a wider home-service franchise organization while retaining its own pest-control identity and operating standards.
The business provides outdoor control for pests such as mosquitoes, ticks and fleas, together with rodent control, barrier spraying and the sale, design, installation and servicing of outdoor misting systems. It also offers services aimed at preventing nuisance insects from entering homes. Customers include homeowners and commercial properties, with the timing of work affected by the local climate and service season.
Administration can take place from a home when local zoning permits, or from suitable office and storage premises. Service vehicles, tools, treatment products and technology support work at customer locations. The standard initial franchise fee is $42,500 for a territory based on the franchisor’s targeted-household criteria. Qualified operators can pursue an area development agreement for two to five businesses, with separate franchise agreements and an opening schedule for the locations.
Mosquito Joe Training and Support
Before opening, Mosquito Joe provides site-selection guidelines, specifications for a home-based location where applicable, and lists of approved equipment, supplies and vendors. It supplies access to operations and sales manuals and provides opening support. Franchisees arrange the premises, equipment, licenses and people needed to operate their own business.
The initial training program includes five days of classroom instruction and may take place at the franchisor’s designated location or remotely. The owner or principal owner, the designated manager and other required attendees must complete training and pass a comprehensive test based on the operations manual. Topics include the mosquito-control industry, service delivery, business software, call handling, staff management, marketing, field operations, sales, customer service, bookkeeping and performance management.
The franchisor supplies instructors and instructional materials. Franchisees pay the travel, accommodation, meals and wages associated with attendance. Additional courses requested by the franchisee carry a daily per-person fee, and refresher training, regional meetings or conventions may involve fees and attendance expenses. The owner remains responsible for ensuring employees receive adequate training for their work.
Continuing assistance includes communication and support, updates to the manuals and approved-supplier lists, and research into products and services. The franchisor can use visits or a secret-shopper program to provide consultation and guidance and offers refresher programs as it determines necessary. The required call-center program handles rollover and out-of-hours customer calls, including scheduling, for separate charges.
Marketing support includes the Direct Marketing Program, an SEO program and the Marketing, Advertising and Promotion Fund, alongside the owner’s local marketing activity. The business uses the required software system and technician devices to support operations and customer interactions. These tools give the local operator a defined framework for coordinating service and communication.
Why Mosquito Joe
Mosquito Joe can appeal to an owner who wants to build a service business around the way customers use their homes and outdoor spaces. Its offering covers treatment visits, barrier services and misting-system work, with residential and commercial customers to serve. The business calls for attention to scheduling, responsiveness and the quality of each customer interaction.
The potential to operate administration from home gives the model flexibility in premises, while approved vehicles and field equipment bring the service directly to the property. The owner or a designated owner normally supervises operations; with the franchisor’s consent, a trained manager can do so instead. A manager does not have to own an interest in the business, although management must meet the brand’s training and supervision requirements.
For a buyer comfortable with local marketing and leading technicians, the franchise’s combination of a recognizable pest-control brand, Neighborly’s support organization, software and call-center resources offers a defined starting point. The area development option also provides a documented route for qualified owners who intend to build more than one territory, with the staffing and management structure to support that growth.
