About Junkluggers

The Junkluggers’ predecessor began offering franchises in December 2012. Authority Brands acquired substantially all of that predecessor’s equity in December 2022, and the current franchisor, Junkluggers Franchising SPE LLC, was formed later that month. The franchisor is based in Columbia, Maryland, with Authority Brands providing franchise management and support services.

The business combines residential and commercial junk removal with Remix Market services. The junk removal operation focuses on landfill diversion through recycling, reuse and donations to approved charities. Remix services involve second-hand furniture and goods collected through the business and may operate virtually, through pop-ups or from an approved retail location. Regular municipal trash collection and hazardous-waste hauling are outside the approved service scope. The business uses an approved home or commercial office, with additional conditions for a physical Remix Market.

The 2026 estimated startup investment is $96,010–$359,160, including a $50,000 base franchise fee and a separate $5,000 initial training fee. The base fee covers a territory of 400,000 people; larger territories carry an additional population fee. The vehicle estimate assumes financing and varies with the truck configuration and number of trucks. The schedule includes six months of additional funds and certain virtual or pop-up Remix costs. A physical Remix Market’s opening costs are outside that total.

Junkluggers Training and Support

The designated key person and any owners required by the franchisor must complete initial training before opening. The program generally lasts five business days and is usually conducted in Seymour, Connecticut, with online preparation and the possibility of other delivery formats. It covers both junk removal and Remix services. Trainees pay travel, accommodation, meals and applicable wages in addition to the initial training fee.

Subjects include selling and estimating jobs, customer communication, business development, team building, marketing, workplace safety, appointment center procedures and operating systems. Field activities include truck and back-of-house training, alongside instruction on Remix Market and the hook-lift system. This combines preparation for customer conversations with the practical process of performing jobs and managing collected goods.

Before launch, the franchisor provides access to operating manuals, helps establish the call center account and supplies information about required software and equipment specifications. The team also works with owners on a pre-opening and grand opening marketing plan and provides opening support in the manner it determines appropriate. Continuing resources include brand standards, required and optional training, marketing materials, advertising review and management of national or key account relationships. Owners remain responsible for their local operation and team.

Why Junkluggers

The Junkluggers combines a local service business with a defined approach to the items it collects. Reuse, recycling, charitable donations and Remix resale give the operation several possible destinations for suitable goods. The connection between collecting unwanted items and finding a further use for them is central to the brand’s identity and may appeal to owners who want that purpose reflected in their daily work.

Community participation is part of the system. Each franchisee must organize at least one charitable event each year and contribute a portion of Remix gross revenue to an approved charity. The mix of household and business customers also creates opportunities to develop local relationships, while the franchise supplies training and processes for service delivery, customer communication and marketing.

Ownership requires an identified key person who holds at least 5% of the business, completes training and normally manages it as a primary occupation from the business office. An approved designated manager can assume daily management under the franchisor’s conditions. For someone interested in coordinating crews, developing customer relationships and managing the flow of collected goods, the model provides a clear operating role with a reuse-oriented service identity.
