Club Z! is a tutoring franchise whose April 30, 2026 Franchise Disclosure Document describes a business built around recruiting qualified teachers to tutor students individually in their homes. For a prospective franchisee, the opportunity involves organizing services and managing relationships as well as an interest in education.
The company and tutoring model
Item 1 identifies Club Z!, Inc. as a Florida corporation formed in June 1995 and based in Tampa. It has offered franchises since July 1998. Its Area Director franchisees recruit teachers, and the system generally markets to students from pre-kindergarten through grade 12.
The FDD describes tutors using textbooks, workbooks and computer programs and working with classroom teachers. Its training curriculum also includes SAT and ACT preparation. Confirm which services and delivery methods are approved for the specific business you would operate.
Tutoring should be discussed in terms of the student’s needs and the program offered. This overview does not promise a particular grade increase, test score or academic outcome.
Training and operational preparation
Item 11 describes web-based preparation and follow-up, plus approximately two days of corporate training in Tampa, online or at another agreed location. The training table totals 30 hours. Topics include tutor recruitment, parent calls, student scheduling, billing, marketing, curriculum and business administration.
Following the initial instruction, a corporate support team assists with further pre-opening preparation, including staffing, marketing and back-office setup. Required training must be completed satisfactorily before the franchisee is approved to market and accept clients.
Continuing assistance includes telephone support during business hours, conference calls, manuals and a location website page. Software supports functions such as client and tutor management, scheduling, billing and payroll. Review the associated fees and requirements instead of assuming that every resource is included without additional cost.
Home-based administration and territory limits
Item 11 permits operating the business from home or optional commercial office space. Item 12 distinguishes an administrative office from a tutoring site: tutoring at an office or other retail or commercial location requires written permission.
The franchise has a protected territory subject to the agreement, retained franchisor rights and compliance conditions. The FDD expressly says the territory is not exclusive. Work outside it requires permission, and additional territory is not an automatic right.
These provisions matter when evaluating the available student population, potential tutor travel and how the business would be marketed. They should be reviewed with the actual proposed territory rather than summarized as unrestricted geographic protection.
The owner’s role
Item 15 requires personal participation by the franchisee or its owners or manager in direct operation. It also requires full-time best efforts under the agreement. A hired manager does not need an equity interest, but must complete the required online training and confidentiality arrangements.
Item 11 leaves employment decisions and responsibility for employees with the franchisee. Ask how you would recruit, assess, schedule and supervise the people delivering services, and how you would communicate with families when needs or availability change.
Financing and investment questions
Item 10 states that Club Z! does not offer direct or indirect financing or guarantee a franchisee’s obligations. That differs from claims that the franchise finances start-up expenses. Review funding arrangements independently and confirm all initial and continuing costs in the applicable disclosure.
- Which tutoring programs would the business offer?
- How will qualified tutors be recruited and matched with students?
- What time commitment will you or your manager make?
- Which support, software and marketing charges apply?
- How do territory restrictions affect the proposed operating plan?
Home-based administration does not establish profitability. Build a budget around the actual costs and expected workload, and discuss operating experience with current and former franchisees.
