Nurse Next Door Franchise

Nurse Next Door’s training and support programs prepare franchise owners to organize a local home care business, recruit a care team and coordinate client services. The December 5, 2025 FDD separates opening preparation, business training and continuing support from the owner’s responsibility for qualified staffing and regulatory compliance.

Countdown to Launch: preparing the business to open

Countdown to Launch begins immediately after signing and normally lasts four to ten weeks. Owners work through insurance, required technology, marketing materials, vehicle branding, billing and pay-rate methods, recruitment and operating manuals. This preparation may overlap with Foundations Training.

The franchisor provides electronic manuals, approved-supplier information and equipment specifications, plus guidance on state licensing. The owner obtains licenses, premises and equipment and arranges installation. Commercial-office proposals require approval, and the franchisor does not find an office for the buyer.

Foundations Training: duration, location and subjects

Mandatory Foundations Training is a course of up to five days in Vancouver, British Columbia, another designated location or remotely. Subjects include brand and culture, care management, client consultations and intake, recruitment, sales and referral development, financial planning, customer experience and launch strategy.

The Principal Owner must complete Foundations Training and Countdown to Launch within 12 weeks of signing, unless another date is agreed in writing. After successful completion and required licensing, the business must open within 30 days unless otherwise agreed.

Training expenses and continuing education

There is no attendance fee for the owner’s Foundations Training or Countdown to Launch. Additional employees may attend, with possible extra-attendee fees. Owners pay wages, travel and living expenses; Item 7 estimates $2,000–$4,000 for training travel and accommodation. Attendees traveling to Canada need the required passports and documents at their expense.

Retraining, refresher courses, continuing education and training for renewal may be required. Additional training can carry fees, with travel, meals, lodging and wages paid by the owner. Items 6 and 11 contain differing additional-training fee figures, so buyers should confirm the applicable charge before enrolling.

If an annual convention is held, Item 6 lists $500–$1,000 per attendee plus expenses. A minimum convention fee based on the number of franchise agreements is payable even without attendance.

What the Care Services Center supports

The centralized Care Services Center provides around-the-clock intake support, caregiver employment-inquiry handling, scheduling and attendance monitoring. It handles inbound inquiries and helps arrange client consultations. Scheduling support depends on qualified, available caregivers and accurate staff and client records supplied by the franchisee.

Owners receive access to a business coach for marketing, training and general operations, plus manuals, periodic training and operational evaluations. Platform, technology and other ongoing fees are separate from initial training. The owner retains responsibility for hiring, employee training, supervision, pay and employment compliance.

Care licensing and the owner’s responsibilities

Nurse Next Door’s U.S. franchise provides personal support, companionship, respite care and skilled nursing in clients’ homes. Services may include meal preparation, light homemaking, transportation and assistance with everyday personal tasks. Approved institutional healthcare staffing is another option. Clinical services require qualified, licensed professionals and the applicable agency licenses.

The December 5, 2025 FDD requires both non-medical and skilled nursing services. It allows an initial non-medical period of up to two years while the owner applies for and diligently seeks the skilled nursing license. The owner leads a care business; owning the franchise does not itself authorize the owner to practice nursing.

The Principal Owner must participate personally in direct operations. A trained general manager may run the business only in limited circumstances with franchisor approval. An Administrator or Agency Manager is required, and the owner may fill that role only with the qualifications required by the state. Nursing supervision and backup coverage must meet applicable rules.

A home office may be permitted by state and local requirements. Otherwise, an approved commercial office is needed. The franchisee remains responsible for licensing, hiring, employee training, supervision, pay and employment compliance.

Who may find this ownership model appealing?

A buyer who enjoys recruiting, organizing a team and developing community referral relationships may find a clear ownership role in this care model. Training and centralized resources support the business, while the local owner builds the staff and relationships needed to serve clients.
