Footprints Floors Franchise: Services, Training and Owner Responsibilities

Jul 25, 2024 | 0 comments

Footprints Floors offers a flooring service business built around work at customer properties, with a franchise system covering training, operating procedures and approved suppliers. Its April 17, 2026 franchise disclosure document explains how the model works and the management role an owner must be prepared to take on.

From a Colorado business to franchising

The franchisor was established in Colorado on December 9, 2008 under the Footprints Floors, LLC name. It began offering franchises in November 2013 and changed its corporate name to Branches Company, LLC in June 2022. Bryan T. Park has served as president since the company’s inception, according to Items 1 and 2 of the FDD.

The disclosed services include hardwood, laminate, engineered flooring, vinyl plank, vinyl sheet and tile installation. Available supplemental services include bathroom remodeling under Footprints Bath and Tile. The business serves primarily residential customers, as well as commercial properties, using the services and products approved by the franchisor.

The operating model and owner’s role

Item 1 allows a home-based administrative office where permitted by law, with services delivered at customer locations within the operating territory. It also anticipates that a growing business may need a non-retail commercial facility for back-end operations. Home administration therefore does not mean that every business will remain entirely home based.

Sales, scheduling, people management and customer communication deserve close attention when evaluating this model. Item 15 requires an approved managing owner to devote full-time effort to management and operations. A manager may take responsibility for daily supervision only if the manager meets the franchisor’s standards, completes training and accepts the required agreements and responsibilities. This is more specific than a promise that owners can work whenever they choose.

Initial training

Item 11 describes an approximately two-week initial training program in Denver, Colorado. Its schedule totals 123 hours: 56 classroom hours and 67 on-the-job hours. Subjects include operations, support and computer systems, sales, marketing, people management, vendors and service orientation.

The initial program covers the owner or managing owner and one designated manager without an additional training fee. Franchisees pay related travel expenses and employee wages; additional attendees carry a fee. Participants must complete the program to the franchisor’s satisfaction, and other designated training may also be required.

Support and local business responsibilities

Pre-opening assistance includes access to operating manuals, approved supplier information and a listing on the brand’s website. The franchisor controls permitted website and digital media use. Those resources give an owner a defined operating framework, while the local business must carry out its own management responsibilities.

Ask the franchisor and current owners to walk through an actual project, from the initial inquiry and estimate through crew coordination, installation and customer follow-up. Clarify who handles each step and what support is included. The FDD’s training and operating provisions should not be read as a commitment that a central team manages every crew, financial task or project for the franchisee.

Community involvement

Footprints Floors also describes its First Fruits initiative on its official community page. The stated focus includes family care, youth education and enrichment, and adoption and orphan care. This is a description of the brand’s community work, separate from the contractual franchise support outlined in the FDD.

Evaluating the opportunity

The model may interest buyers who want to manage a local service business and develop sales and team leadership skills. Assess local competition, available installation capacity, project scheduling and the working capital needed to run the business. Training and a brand system do not establish that an individual location will be profitable or outperform industry averages.
