Sharkey’s Cuts for Kids Training and Support
Initial training. Initial training prepares franchise owners for salon operations. The program generally lasts three days in person at Westport, Connecticut or a designated location, or two–three days virtually. Topics include software, salon practice, hiring, business planning, reception and marketing. Completion is required 30 days before opening.
Travel and lodging support for two trainees is capped at $1,500; virtual delivery does not require reimbursement. Owners pay wages, other expenses and additional-trainee costs. Manager training is virtual, generally two–four hours. Employees complete training through the Learning Portal.
Continuing training. Called conferences are mandatory and carry attendance fees plus owner-paid travel, lodging, meals and wages. Franchisees or managers must participate in monthly conference calls. Approved managers complete required training; locally required salon and stylist licensing still applies.
Operating assistance. Support includes package-specific equipment and inventory, site-selection assistance, a location web page with franchisor-paid hosting, manual and Learning Portal access, and telephone consultations by appointment. Owners negotiate leases and fund required software, camera systems, installation, maintenance and upgrades.
The paid opening advertising campaign runs through month five. Local advertising requires approval; owners handle placement and printing. Brand Fund spending need not benefit an individual territory proportionally.
