About 1Heart Caregiver Services
1Heart Caregiver Services traces its organizational history to California Medical Resources, Inc., an affiliate’s predecessor incorporated in October 2003 and dissolved in December 2008. Caregiver Services & Homecare, Inc. was incorporated in September 2008 and has operated the type of home care business described in the franchise offering since that time. Belina Calderon-Nernberg has led that operating affiliate as CEO since 2008 and has served as the franchise company’s CEO since its formation.
The franchisor was organized in February 2014, with franchise offerings beginning in September 2014. Originally named 1Heart Caregiver Services LLC, it changed its name to 1HCS Franchising LLC in March 2023 and continues to do business as 1Heart Caregiver Services. The franchise company is based in Encino, California. A second affiliate, Beacon Care Solutions, began operating in 2020; following its dissolution in March 2026, its business became part of Caregiver Services & Homecare, Inc.
The agency model combines in-home non-medical assistance with approved staffing and related services. The 2026 disclosure describes work for older adults and individuals with disabilities, including respite services, as well as caregiver staffing for senior living and residential care facilities. It also identifies potential referral income and training fees through 1Heart Caregiver University. A franchise operates from an approved office rather than a residence, typically using approximately 400–1,000 square feet. Multiple contiguous territories may share one approved location, subject to the franchise agreement.
1Heart Caregiver Services Training and Support
The initial program is scheduled about one month before opening at the Encino headquarters or another designated location. The training table provides an estimated 40 classroom hours and four hours of on-the-job training. Subjects include office procedures, advertising, lead handling, sales, case management, the home care market and business processes. Sales training includes work associated with senior living facilities, senior clients and hospitals. The owner and/or designated manager must complete training satisfactorily, and up to two assistants may attend, for three participants in total.
Initial tuition is included in the franchise fee. Franchisees cover travel, meals, lodging, employee compensation and related attendance expenses. A replacement designated manager must complete training within 30 days; additional charges may apply if manager changes are excessive or result from poor hiring practices. Refresher programs and ongoing webinars are described in the disclosure, with travel and attendance expenses remaining the owner’s responsibility.
Before launch, 1Heart provides site criteria and approval, specifications for the office and equipment, approved supplier information and initial training. Owners locate and secure the office, obtain required licensing and permits, and hire and train their employees. The disclosed typical opening period is four to six months, with a contractual requirement to be operational within 180 days. After opening, support includes periodic guidance on operations, accounting, authorized services, marketing and sales. The franchisor commits to at least one day at the franchise office during the first 180 days of operations; extra requested on-site help may be available for an additional fee.
Franchisees receive access to the confidential operations manual and its updates. Required systems include WellSky Personal Care scheduling, accounting and financial reporting tools, with software subscriptions, backup and updates funded by the franchisee. Local advertising follows approved materials and a territory- and revenue-based spending schedule, separate from the current 2% brand fund contribution. For one territory, the local minimum begins at $1,000 per month, including at least $500 for online advertising, with a higher requirement at the disclosed revenue level. The franchisor does not promise advertising expenditure in each owner’s territory.
Why 1Heart Caregiver Services
1Heart is a fit for someone who wants to organize a people-centered service business and stay involved in how it operates. The opportunity brings together caregiver relationships, client care coordination and local outreach, giving an owner concrete ways to contribute to the business each day. Its approved mix of home care, staffing, respite and referral services provides several ways to address needs within a local care community, subject to the services and licenses applicable to that location.
Ownership requires consistent leadership. The business must have direct, full-time day-to-day supervision by an approved, trained owner, principal or operating manager. Even when a manager runs daily operations, the owner must remain active in oversight. Recruiting caregivers, maintaining dependable staffing and developing referral relationships are essential parts of the model. For a buyer who enjoys both relationship building and disciplined coordination, 1Heart offers a defined operating system, initial instruction and continuing business guidance to support that work.
